Plan databases for the local network users can be located on the server and/or on the user computer. When selecting the location, some peculiarities must be noted:

·    Database on the server.

The simplest variant when all the settings are made on the server. Tick off the "To Server" check box, specify the server network name and port number on the "Network" tab of the Settings utility. Tick off the "From Server" checkbox on the tab "Database".

Each of the databases has corresponding user group in the server settings. A user may have own database (1 user in a group), several users may manage one common database. If the user doesn't have any database on the server, he/she must be included into any of the groups where the database is not used and therefore its path is empty for such a group.

·    Some (or all) databases may be located on user computers.

Database settings are made through the Settings utility on the user computer. The User's name specified when registering the software (in case of freeware, any arbitrary name may be entered on the server) and network name of the user computer are entered in the server settings in the "Users in group" box. The database path should be specified for the group which the user belongs to.

In this case the database may be managed by one user only – i.e. no other users can be connected to the database located on the user computer. However, if such connection is required, there is the third variant.

·    Connecting "1 to 1". The database is located on the user's computer and another user is connected to it. For more details see the section “Connecting "1 to 1".

In this case network communication functions including mail program and interactive communication channels are available only for interaction of two users managing the same database.
